Can I use my DSL Modem, Router, or Cable Modem with my Verizon Fios Internet Service? No. At this time you need to use the broadband routers provided by Verizon that have been approved to work specifically with Verizon Fios Internet Service. These routers contain special diagnostic software that can help troubleshoot and correct problems should you experience trouble with your Internet connection. Currently Fios is Using Actiontec and Dlink.
Adding your own router
Some people add their Own routers After or Before the Fios provided router. When I say after/before it is in relation to the network in question. Like most ISP's adding such equipment means you are accepting configuration responsibilities. Most likely if you run into connection issues, you will be asked to removed the additional equipment in order for Fios to troubleshoot their own equipment.
Having been in the IT business for several years, it is only fair :-) Don't you agree?
