Change Westell 9100EM Router Password
 
The steps for strengthening the Verizon 9100EM or 9100VM router password are identical. For simplicity, "Verizon 9100 router" will be used in the instructions below to refer to either device.

  1. To log into the Verizon Westell 9100 router, open up a Web browser window (using Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) on a computer that is connected to your local network and enter http://192.168.1.1 in the Address field of the browser.

  2. If this is the first time you are accessing the router, the following message may display: "This is your first login to the Management Console. Use http://192.168.1.1 in order to access the Router’s Management Console. To conveniently access the Management Console, you can click Add to Favorites. You should make sure that cookies are enabled in the browser. To enable cookies, go to Tools->Internet Options->Privacy->Advanced.

  3. Click OK in the Welcome screen to continue.

  4. By default, "admin" displays in the User Name field; however, you can change this to the user name of your choice.

  5. Enter a strong password in the New Password field. Your password must be 6 or more characters long and contain at least 1 numeral. As you enter your password, asterisks (*) will display for security purposes. Retype the new password where shown.
    • Important: Write down your new user name and password and store them in a safe place. You will need them to create a home network, change your password in the future, or make any changes to your router settings.


  6. Select your time zone in the Time Zone field and click OK.

  7. Click Log out in the Quick Links section of the main Verizon 9100 configuration screen. Now that you have set up a new strong password for the router, you can return to using your FiOS Internet service.
