Using Device Manager in Windows XP to check for an installed wireless adapter
  1. Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.

  2. Select Properties from the menu. The System Properties window displays.

  3. Select the Hardware tab.

  4. Select Device Manager.

  5. When Device Manager displays, expand Network adapters by clicking on the plus (+) sign. Look for a wireless adapter already installed on your computer

  6. Close Device Manager.
