Verizon FiOS TV Features Designed to compete successfully with cable and satellite, Verizon FiOS TV is provided over the nation's largest fiber-to-the premises (FTTP) network. FTTP technology delivers the power of fiber directly to homes and harnesses the capacity and reliability of fiber optics to create a television experience that is unsurpassed. Following is a description of some of the Verizon FiOS TV features that offer all-digital programming with amazingly sharp pictures and sound, as well as transmit all available high-definition (HD) programming with clarity that leaps from the television screen.
Channel Line-Up The Verizon FiOS TV channel line-up was designed with the viewer in mind. Channels are grouped by category so that viewers can easily find all the shows within a particular genre. In addition, unlike cable, the channel line-up will be consistent across the Verizon FiOS TV system. The local channel line-up and certain regionally based programming, such as sports, will be unique to each market.
Interactive Programming Guide The FiOS TV interactive programming guide also provides 14-day TV listings, special guides for video-on-demand and high-definition television, as well as a mini-guide to display program listings while watching a program.
Set Top Boxes Standard Definition - A state-of-the-art set-top box that delivers all-digital video and audio. Provides access to the Verizon FiOS TV interactive programming guide and 47 digital music channels, as well as the ability to order pay-per-view programming and selections from the video-on-demand library. $3.95 per month. High Definition - A premium interactive digital video set-top box that automatically provides access to HD programming. The high-definition set-top box also offers access to the Verizon FiOS TV interactive programming guide and 47 digital music channels, as well as pay-per-view programming and the video-on-demand library. $9.95 per month.
Digital Video Recorder - The Second most advanced digital video set-top-box available with Verizon FiOS TV, the dual-tuner digital video recorder (DVR) will revolutionize a customer's TV viewing experience. The DVR enables customers to pause and rewind live TV, as well as record one show while watching another. The DVR provides access to HD programming, the Verizon FiOS TV interactive programming guide and 47 digital music channels, as well as pay-per-view programming and the video-on-demand library. $12.95 per month.
Home Media DVR
Home Media DVR features a multiroom DVR that enables up to three simultaneous viewings of programs recorded by the device without requiring customers to set up a complex home network or buy extra equipment. The recorder is bundled with Media Manager, a new feature that lets customers easily access photos and music from their personal computer and play them on their entertainment center where they look and sound the best. Both functions are made possible by software and technology already built into the FiOS platform on Verizon's fiber-to-the-premises network.
Settings and Parental Controls The settings menu enables a viewer to define favorite channels, remove channels from the programming line-up and choose a language for the TV listings text. Verizon FiOS TV also enables viewers to manage and control the content received on their television through a comprehensive set of parental controls. Programming can be blocked selectively by channel, rating or category. And, adult video-on-demand programming can be hidden from the TV listings entirely. In addition, the ability to block pay-per-view and video-on-demand purchases is made possible by the ability to create a personal identification number that is required to activate these services.
