FiOS is currently not available in all Cities or States. Some States have signed Legislation paving way for Telecom companies to offer Video Service Statewide. On the other hand, some still have the old Laws on the books that require Telecom companies like Verizon to negotiate Video Franchises with individual Cities and Communities. There are over 33,000 communities out there that fall into this category. Yes you read it right 33,000!

A typical Franchise negotiation takes from 3 months to just over 1 Year to finalize! That gives cable operators a forum to delay consumer choice and increase costs for new competitors like Verizon. At this rate you can understand why it is taking a long time for you to get in on the fun.
